Movie Reviews
Last year was a great year for the film world, but certainly, there is a couple of movies that stand out from the others. I am talking about Joker and Parasite! These two movies drained the box-offices all around the world. However, is one better than the other? I am going to analyze these two blockbusters right now.
First, lets talk about everyone’s favorite villain: The Joker. Portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, this movie about the most famous antagonist of DC Comics certainly got a lot of attention. The movie drives us through the troubled life of Arthur Fleck, a party clown and "comedian" with several mental issues whose recent life events doesn’t help him to become a better person. After some controversies around Gotham City, Arthur has decided that all who have been mean to him in any way, will pay. Joker’s most important award is Academy’s Best Actor. Definitely, Joaquin’s breath-taking Joker is as good as Heath Ledger’s Joker. This drama-thriller has a hard-hitting message at the end, that the way we treat mentally ill people is not ok. This movie portrays in a gory way the current problems in our society.
Now, let’s
talk about probably the best foreign movie of the century. Parasite is a comedy-thriller that tells the story about a family that lives in a basement.
Ki-Woo, the son of the family, is hired as an English teacher by a wealthy
family. Ki-Woo realizes that he could get a job for the rest of the family
inside the same house as long as they all pretend being what they are not. By
doing so they will discover spine-chilling secrets that lie inside the house. Parasite
won the Academy’s award for Best International Film, Best Original Screenplay,
Best Director and Best Picture. It is a MUST WATCH.
